Out and About: Fourth of July
July 6, 2010
Fourth of July means grilling on a Brooklyn rooftop… cold watermelon, grilled guacamole and Pimms cups.
Steve works magic with portobello mushrooms, basting them with olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper and black pepper. They get snatched straight off the grill, before they even have a chance to cool.
For smoky guacamole, throw the avocados on the grill before mashing.

looks like an awesome party!!!
Fantastic photos, Liz! You captured the colors and feel of your party so beautifully.
How much smoky flavor does the grill impart to the avocado? Is the guacamole served warm?
What a wonderful idea for a new take on quacamole, I’m giving that a try tonight!!
Great pics! It makes me feel like I was at the party!
That looks like a seriously fabulous party! Great shots. Makes me want to be there too!
Great captures Liz…stylish yet very urban too! Love the beer and lanterns shot!
Great photos with vivid colors! Love the idea of smoky guacamole.
Great capture of the event. Looks like everyone is enjoying themselves. I am surprised the hibachi grill was big enough to feed everyone there. I am glad to see my favorite brewery (Brooklyn) in the cooler, just too bad it is not the summer brew. yum
Awesome pictures! Looks like a great party!
